NDP 2026: Extended Train Hours on 8 August & Guide to Stations Near Kallang Wave Mall

Transport Correspondent

National Day Parade 2026 is heading to Kallang, and that means two things for commuters: extended train and bus services on the eve of the public holiday (Saturday, 8 August 2026), and a major road closure around the National Stadium on 9 August. If you are heading to the Singapore Sports Hub or Kallang Wave Mall, this guide covers the extended NDP operating hours and a detailed look at the two MRT stations serving the area - Stadium (CC6) on the Circle Line and Kallang (EW10) on the East-West Line.

NDP 2026: Extended Train Services on 8 August

The last buses from Bedok, Bishan, Clementi, Eunos, Serangoon and Toa Payoh interchanges will depart between 12:55am and 1:05am. At Boon Lay, Buangkok, Hougang Central, Pasir Ris, Punggol and Tampines interchanges, the last buses leave between 1:10am and 1:20am. At Bukit Panjang and Woodlands interchanges, the last buses depart at 1:25am, while the final buses from Bukit Batok, Choa Chu Kang, Jurong East, Sembawang and Yishun interchanges will leave between 1:30am and 1:50am.

NDP 2026 Road Closures on 9 August

On National Day itself (Sunday, 9 August 2026), 21 road segments around the National Stadium and the Kallang area will be closed for much of the day. Bus and taxi access to the Sports Hub will be disrupted, so the MRT is by far the most reliable way in and out. The two stations closest to the action - Stadium (CC6) and Kallang (EW10) - will see heavy crowds, especially before and after the parade and fireworks.

Kallang Wave Mall: Which MRT Station Should You Use?

Kallang Wave Mall sits inside the Singapore Sports Hub on Stadium Walk. It is a lifestyle mall with a swimming complex, retail shops, food and beverage outlets, and the Sports Hub Library. Two MRT stations serve the area, and the right choice depends on which part of the Sports Hub you are visiting:

  • Stadium MRT (CC6) - the closest station to Kallang Wave Mall, located directly under the Sports Hub. This is the recommended station for the mall, the Indoor Stadium, the OCBC Aquatic Centre and the National Stadium.
  • Kallang MRT (EW10) - slightly further east along the East-West Line, about a 10-12 minute walk via the Kallang Park Connector. Exit A also lists Kallang Wave Mall and the Sports Hub among its landmarks.

Stadium MRT Station (CC6) - Full Operating Hours

Stadium station is on the Circle Line (CCL), code CC6, between Mountbatten (CC7) and Nicoll Highway (CC5). It has two platforms: Platform A towards HarbourFront (via Dhoby Ghaut) and Platform B towards Dhoby Ghaut (via HarbourFront). The station is wheelchair-accessible with lifts, escalators and a taxi stand.

Getting to Kallang Wave Mall on National Day

On 9 August 2026, with 21 road segments closed around the National Stadium, driving or taking a taxi to Kallang Wave Mall is not recommended. The MRT is the best option, and here is how to choose between the two stations:

  1. From the Circle Line: Alight at Stadium (CC6) and take Exit A. This drops you closest to Kallang Wave Mall - a 3-5 minute sheltered walk through the Sports Hub.
  2. From the East-West Line: If you are already on the EWL, alight at Kallang (EW10) and take Exit A for a 10-12 minute walk via the Kallang Park Connector. Alternatively, interchange at Paya Lebar (EW8/CC9) to the Circle Line and ride one stop to Stadium (CC6).
  3. From the North-South Line: Interchange at Bishan (NS17/CC15) to the Circle Line and ride to Stadium (CC6).
  4. From the North East Line: Interchange at Serangoon (NE12/CC13) to the Circle Line and ride to Stadium (CC6).
  5. From the Thomson-East Coast Line: Interchange at Caldecott (TE7/CC17) to the Circle Line and ride to Stadium (CC6).
  6. From the Downtown Line: Interchange at Botanic Gardens (DT9/CC19) or Promenade (DT5/CC4) to the Circle Line and ride to Stadium (CC6).

Tip for NDP crowds: On 9 August, expect Stadium (CC6) to be extremely crowded before and after the parade. Consider using Kallang (EW10) as an alternative exit point - the walk along the Kallang Park Connector is pleasant and helps you avoid the worst of the crowd surge at Stadium station.

Summary

For NDP 2026, remember the key dates and times: extended train services run on the night of 8 August (eve of National Day) with most lines operating past midnight, and road closures around the National Stadium take effect on 9 August. If you are heading to Kallang Wave Mall, Stadium MRT (CC6) on the Circle Line is the closest station - take Exit A for a short sheltered walk. Kallang MRT (EW10) on the East-West Line is a useful backup, especially when Stadium station is crowded during NDP. Check real-time train service updates on this website before you travel, and have a safe and happy National Day.
