Circle Line Loop Is Complete: Keppel, Cantonment & Prince Edward Road Now Open
The Circle Line is finally a full circle. Keppel (CC30), Cantonment (CC31) and Prince Edward Road (CC32) opened for passenger service on July 12, 2026, closing the 4km gap between HarbourFront and Marina Bay and completing Singapore's first orbital MRT line after more than 30 years in the making.
The three new stations enable through-services around the full loop and give the south-western and south-eastern parts of Singapore a direct rail connection without transferring through the city centre. LTA estimates over 10,000 commuters will enjoy shorter train rides as a result.
Station code changes you need to know
With the loop closed, Circle Line station codes were renumbered on July 12:
- Marina Bay: CE2 becomes CC33 (also NS27, TE20)
- Bayfront: CE1 becomes CC34 (also DT16)
- Wayfinding on the line now uses Clockwise / Anti-clockwise directions rather than terminal-bound labels
The three new stations
- Keppel (CC30) - located beneath Keppel Road, serving future residential and commercial developments in the Greater Southern Waterfront precinct
- Cantonment (CC31) - sits above the former Tanjong Pagar Railway Station, with a platform design inspired by the heritage building's interior; built to integrate with the conserved station in future
- Prince Edward Road (CC32) - serves the Shenton Way / Tanjong Pagar office belt on the line's southern edge
The stations were originally slated to open in 2025, but delays from Covid-19 and the tunnel strengthening works between Mountbatten, Dakota and Paya Lebar pushed the opening to mid-2026. The final systems integration testing was completed over five weekends of shortened service hours from April 11 to May 17.
Journey time savings
The completed loop removes the need to transfer via the city for trips between the west and the south-east. Examples:
- HarbourFront to Marina Bay: direct around the loop instead of via the North-South or Downtown lines - saving roughly 10-15 minutes
- Pasir Panjang to Bayfront: no longer requires a Buona Vista transfer plus a Downtown Line hop
- Interchange pressure at Dhoby Ghaut and Buona Vista is eased as some cross-city trips stay on the Circle Line
Plan your trip around the completed loop with the journey planner, or view the full station list on the Circle Line page.
